Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to preserve the memory of a defining period for the creation of modern military ships, a stage that overcame the chaotic attempts and without a clear plan to integrate the new technological inventions that invaded the late nineteenth century. It is a short story of those who played only secondary roles on the stage of modern shipbuilding, of ships known as pre-dreadnought. They had a short life, a little over a decade, until the appearance and domination of the scene by the star ship Dreadnought in 1906.However, they had their role and importance – a real laboratory for everything that led to improving nautical qualities, the homogenization of the classes of battleships, the increase of the precision of firing of the big caliber artillery and, in my opinion, it was the naval school where tens of thousands of sailors were trained and perfected and, more importantly, where the captains and admirals who passed the final exam during the Battle of Jutland and throughout the First World War were trained.
