Summary/Abstract: This paper describes the military actions of the Italian Back Sea flotilla in the Black Sea during World War Two. This naval unit comprised torpedo boats, fast attack boats and explosive assault boats, along with pocket submarines. These naval actions were mostly in the first months since their arrival in the new theatre, between July and August 1942. Despite some criticism, especially from their German allies, the Italian crews fought with determination and skill during some of the critical moments of the naval war in the Black Sea.
