Summary/Abstract: In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all economic sectors, including the cultural one, suspended or changed their activity substantially, depending on the evolution of the disease, causing a quantitative and qualitative decrease in production, with major negative effects on individual lives. Due to the increasing number of people affected by the disease and to international regulations, cultural institutions all over the world had to close their gates for a relatively long period, which had a negative influence on the lives of artists and cultural consumers. In this context, the cultural operators were forced to reorganize their schedule from all points of view: venues, artists, repertoire, channels and means of distribution. This research wishes to capture the manner in which the “Transilvania” State Philharmonic managed the challenges generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, starting from the analysis of a concert season under normal, pre-COVID conditions and continuing with the analysis of the March 2020 to March 2021 season.
