Summary/Abstract: This paper describes and comments on the impressions and memories that the German writer Elmar Schenkel experienced during his two literary excursions to Moldavia and Bukovina (2015, 2016) and that he included in his book Transsilvanien Express. Streifzüge durch ein sagenhaftes Land (The Transylvania Express. Forays into a Legendary Country), published in 2017 by Hamouda Publishing House in Leipzig. It deals with meeting Romanian and foreign personalities, but also with the Romanian daily life, viewed from the perspective of a German writer, translator and painter, namely the first literary correspondent in Transylvania between 2011-2012, in Caţa (German: Katzendorf), Braşov County.
