Summary/Abstract: Objective: The aims of the study are to identify self-leadership skills, guage students’ level of trust and determine the relationship between these constructs and the results of virtual teamwork. Research Design & Methods: For a comparative analysis, questionnaire research was conducted among 1,121 students from Poland and 979 from Romania, with three measurement scales used: team performance, trust and self-leadership. Findings: Research results show that both self-leadership skills and trust have a positive effect on the performance of students’ virtual teams. Implications / Recommendations: The results can be used to improve curricula and thus better prepare students for effective teamwork in a virtual environment after graduation. Contribution: The research contributes to the subject literature by empirically confirming the influence of self-management skills and the level of trust on the results of a virtual team.
