Summary/Abstract: This article presents legislative and jurisprudential trends, which could be a working basis for a necessary reform in testamentary matters by introducing this modern alternative in the Romanian legal landscape, the electronic will. Far from being assimilated only to the traditional holographic testament, it can also be conceived as a true authentic testament in the context of the development of technology that would allow the coverage of the same working principles that underlie this option. Going further, even in the current context, the legislation could be interpreted in a permissive way, showing in the article that the electronic will is not only a version de lege ferenda, but even de lege lata. Far from treating the subject exhaustively, we tried to open the doctrinal dialogue to identify the best solutions, taking into account the risks. The major advantage is in sight, an electronic will is easy, involves low costs and, in the version assimilated to the authentic will, can be an efficient tool in expressing a person's last will.
