Book markets in selected countries

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the situation of book markets in Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States of America. The author presents data about the sales volumes, books offered, average book prices, as well as the levels of book reading, which she finds paramount for the book market development. The focus of the article is on printed books. At the end, the author presents some pros and cons of the book price regulation which was introduced in some countries.
