Summary/Abstract: The Roman-Catholic Dome in Timișoara, built between 1736-1774, is the subject of an undergoing project of conservation and restoration, which started in 2019. The historical monument comprises an ensemble of various artistic components: mural paintings, wooden polychrome sculptures, stucco and stucco marble, stone sculptures, easel oil paintings, furniture, stained glass windows and metallic ornaments and functional elements. Referring to just a few of the mentioned artistic techniques, the article follows the intervention methodology and the way this process was planned, in respect to a few concepts such as collective memory, the issue of the spatiality of the work of art, the function of the work of art in a complex, well determined by the limits of the baroque style and its unification with the sacred space, all these concepts needed to be harmonized with the fundamental principles of conservation and restoration of works of art.
