Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the autobiographical novel ”In the Kingdom of Wardens” written by the prominent Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Ivasiuk. It substantiates that in his novel the author exposes true Soviet reality and the Stalinist dictatorship; he condemns totalitarianism and the dictatorship of communist power. The main attention is drawn on the psychology of the artist, who under conditions of exile and isolation from his native land managed to preserve the best human qualities, did not lose faith in returning from a long exile and serving for the benefit of the Ukrainian people.
