Summary/Abstract: Berlusconi is a hated politician, displaying democracy’s ugly and upsetting face. He irritates and horrifies because he embodies a paradigm of the non-political – making politics on a most anti-political way. Nevertheless, this monopolist anarchist has triumphed for so many years in Italy. Why? Why do people vote in his and his party’s favor? Where do the voters’ options lie – with the right wing, or the left? Is it because Italy registers a decline of almost all its indicators? Which is the cause of the economic and cultural decline of Italy? These are the questions that the author answers in this essay.
