Hyphenation in Scientific Discourse

Summary/Abstract: After resumption of discussion about Slovak orthography many language uncertainties linked with current orthography handbook come to the fore. This is shown not only in the language using, but also in language attitudes of language users. Before deeper research of spelling problems it is important to know the development of various questions , e. g. the issue of hyphenation which is given a little space in the handbook of Slovak orthography. The aim of the article is to outline the various approaches to the issue of hyphenation in the past and discussions that accompanied changes in their orthography. Even today this problem does not appear to be sufficiently solved and it presupposes further research.
