Summary/Abstract: The hyphenation represents a marginal chapter in the standard orthography of the Slovak. The description of the issue is still considered as sufficient, but survey on the attitudes of language users indicates that the rules are characterized, for example, by insufficient explanatory components or the absence of a dictionary of hyphenation in Slovak language. Such a dictionary would be highly beneficial for school or publication. The users´point of view also confirms the importance of variability in Slovak orthography. The research was realised on the basis of material from the on-line language counselling platforms.
