Summary/Abstract: The fashion landscape of the second half of the twentieth century expresses the openness to novelty, the spirit of independence and youth, the desire for emancipation and social affirmation, through behavior and the realization of iconic clothing images, which will later become a constant reference for contemporary fashion. Clothing is freed from its role of signaling social rank and financial position and becomes a means of communicating personality, cultural and social democratic identity. The second half of the twentieth century is characterized by the balance in the individual-collective relationship reconfigured under the image of subcultural movements.
