Summary/Abstract: The translation of the self-image into the communicated image through the visual language of the clothing is manifested under the influence of the inner determining factors, coming from the ego, but also from the external ones – social and cultural ones, which generate a permanent control over the communicated image. The image expressed through clothing refers to clothing as a means of communicating personal identity, as a way of transposing into the language of visual forms one`s image of oneself. Understanding self-image as answers to questions What do I think I am? and Who would I like to be? - in the analysis of its forms of expression all the dimensions of the ego will be taken into account. Individuals are not characterized by the same interest in their own communicated image, not everyone is concerned with the way they look or what they wear. Thus self-awareness intervenes in the process of expression differently depending on the inner specifics of each person.
