Summary/Abstract: The article aims to discuss how Bucharest city hall approaches the subject of primary schools and their premises in the last three decades of the 19th century. Through historical contextualization, I will follow how the peculiarities of the Capital, other urban projects and the educational needs of the population interact in one form or another with the subject. Tracing the development of Bucharest educational network, I will follow the extent to which the school premises built by the city hall are located in areas with high educational needs, as well as the financial strategies pursued to obtain the necessary funds for building these edifices, strategies that signal a change in the way the municipality relates to primary school buildings.
