Summary/Abstract: The previous studies relating to the area of employment of people with disabilities largely focus on the barriers that these people face on the way to getting a job and the benefits of their employment. Few qualitative studies refer to the barriers that people with disabilities face at work. This article is a report from a focus study carried out with 9 employees with disabilities at one of the Polish universities. The participants indicated a number of barriers in their career in four main areas: physical (infrastructure, access to information, security), virtual, social (communication barriers, a feeling of being misunderstood by co-workers and university authorities) and organizational. The article concludes with recommendations based on the findings.
