Summary/Abstract: Within any economy, tourist activity has a determinate role. For the development of these activities it is necessary to capitalize not only natural resources, but the cultural and economical resources too. The present study contains a desk research, which is based on relevant statistical data and which offers an image on tourism in Romania and on East-European tourism, by a comparative analysis of the data. These analyses are most welcomed seeing that they raise a series of questions that require straight answers. It is imperative that we have knowledge of the real situation, which has to be analyzed, to know the right direction or path that has to be followed.
