Summary/Abstract: Education and professional development must be of a permanent concern for every state regardless of their level of development. Education has in sight not only the quality of recent knowledge, the development of intellectual capacities, but as well as the education of human spirit regarding the observance of rights and fundamental freedoms/liberties, of the values that underline human existence. A decent educational process requires not only competent didactic personnel, but as well as an adequate material/financial support. Within the East European education, the Romanian educational system offers an accomplished view based on indicators such as: number of students - tertiary education, pupils and students - excluding pre-primary education, median age, public expenditure on education - percent of GDP, pupil/teacher ratio in primary education, annual expenditure on public and private educational institutions per pupil/student. The present analysis is based on a desk research depending on collected, relevant statistic data from East European countries.
