COURT VOYAGE DANS LE MONDE DES NANOSCIENCES ET ANOTECHNOLOGIES: UN PROJET MULTILINGUE POUR LA TRADUCTION DE LA TERMINOLOGIE SCIENTIFIQUE
A SHORT MULTILINGUAL JOURNEY INTO THE NANOWORLD: A MULTILINGUAL PROJECT FOR THE TRANSLATIONM OF SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY

Summary/Abstract: Starting from the development of a multilingual project aiming at the publication of the popular science book Breve viaggio multilingue nel nanomondo. Con un glossario di nanoscienze e nanotecnologie in six languages (English, French, Italian, German, Russian and Romanian), this paper sets out to highlight the translator's approach and, at the same time, to question the classic debate between the two main types of translation approaches: semasiological and/or onomasiological. The conclusion that emerges is that these two approaches are complementary, ensuring a plural inter- and intra-lingual reading, as the translator has several paths of access to the world of nanosciences and nanotechnologies through routes that guarantee a journey that facilitates a good appropriation of this new terminology.
