Summary/Abstract: The songs for the women Haiduks hold a special place in the Macedonian folk arts. The people was enchanted by their acts and they were made eternal in manu songs. The most famous women Haiduks in the Macedonian history were: Voivode Sirma, who acted in western Macedonia, Voivode Rumena, the so-called „mountain queen”, who acted in the Osogovo mountains, Voivode Vasilka, in the mountains near Debarca, Voivode Cveta etc. The most famous resources for Voivode Rumena, the „mountain queen“ were written bu Efrem karanov. His small book „Voivode Rumena“ published in Sofija, in 1886, contains a lot of interesting facts about the Osogovo area and for thelufe in North-Eastern Macedonia in general. Due to the fact that this work of Karamanov is not familiar enough to our people, we have conveyed here some of most important for Voivode Rumena as well as for other persons and events from this area.
