Contemporary Feastive Table in the Families of Bessarabian Bulgarians

Summary/Abstract: The text considers certain elements of the ritual and festive table of Bulgarians living in the Bolgrad, Izmail and Artsiz regions in Bessarabia. The study provides evidence that these festive practices are an important marker for self-definition and identification of Bulgarian immigrants in Bessarabia because they combine repeatedly reproduced traditional models with new contemporary ones which have developed due to the present surroundings.
