Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the educational potential of Bulgarian art museums. The system of these museums is briefly described, indicating the specifics of their cultural activities. The great opportunities for education in-and-through these museums are outlined – with examples and concepts. The thesis about the positives of their wider involvement in the educational process is developed on the basis of data from the work of some art museums. The need to develop emotional intelligence and empathy in students through a deeper reading of art is outlined. In this regard, the role of the treasury of Bulgarian art museums is invaluable.
