Summary/Abstract: Albanian customs and traditions in general and family customs and traditions in particular contain rich material ethnological heritage. In the context of these customs, an important place is occupied by those of apotropaic character, by which people believed were protected from negative influences, in the case of childbirth, marriage, respectively wedding, and in the case of death. Given this, but also the fact that the apotropaic elements in family customs have not been adequately addressed, here will be elaborated numerous elements as used in the past, by providing data on the ways of the protection was practiced and on the impact these ways were believed to have had in certain moments of people’s life.
