Summary/Abstract: This paper will see into the figure of Ymer Riza, having been one of the personalities who significantly influenced the musical culture of the city of Gjakova in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Special emphasis is given to his influence with the change he introduced when he collectivized ”traditional folk music” by separating it from the old name that existed in Gjakova and was known as “Tajfa”29. In addition, the figure of Ymer Riza will be scrutinized in three plans: the humanitarian plan, the organizational plan and the national heritage plan. This study will also give data on the first Albanian (Kosovo) recording made by Ymer Riza with friends.
