MURTEZA ROKA AN UNKNOWN COLLECTOR OF FOLKLORE: ALBANIAN SONGS OF THE FRONTIER WARRIORS, VOLUME X – LUTE OF KOSOVA

Summary/Abstract: Of the 15 numbers of "Albanian Songs of the Frontier Warriors" published in the period 1937 - 1944, the Volume X contains the so-called Kosovo songs. The author of this volume with songs of different folk types is the teacher Myrteza Roka. Therefore, this volume is titled "Lahuta e Kosovës" (Lute of Kosova), based on the fact that their collector was from the town of Gjakova in Kosova. In this paper, some light will be attempted to be shed on the collector of these creations, Myrteza Roka, for the songs published in this volume and for other interesting details which are related directly to this volume, with the work of this very passionate collector as well as for other accompanying information. Also, the title of the volume "Lute of Kosova" will be emphasized as a separate issue which requires research and attention. Among other things, will be treated the work of the collector Myrteza Roka in the context of the time, also viewed in relation to the achievements of the folklore field, namely in his collection.
