Summary/Abstract: The theoretical dimension of today's IR is preponderantly Western. Little is known about alternatives from other cultures and historical experiences. The applicability of an IR theory is universal if this universality works in both directions. From a certain convenience, Western theorists often ignore theories that do not fit into established Western patterns, generalizing the validity of their theories. Political theories of Western origin are based on cultural traditions and historical experiences different from those of Asia. At the other extreme are those who deny the relevance of the RI theory of Western origin by invoking a certain exceptionalism. I noticed in non-Western environments a certain resistance to the field itself and the relevance of the RI theory perceived as an elitist discipline with assertions issued from “ivory towers” far from the reality of everyday life in the developing world. There is a theory of IR from the perspective of Chinese civilization with contemporary adaptations but little known and too little integrated into an integrative theory of IR. In this material we want to make a presentation of two important concepts for Chinese political thinking: Tianxia and Harmony.
