The Changing of the security environment and the new national defense strategy. Risk identification and ranking

Summary/Abstract: Within an agitated political environment, internally and externally, Romania is very close to generate and approve a new national defence strategy, as well as re-starting the legal cycle of emitting the connected strategic documents. We tend to believe that this is the right time for a serious approach of the real problems, especially those related to the will of national authorities. We believe that actual status as NATO and EU member country, as well as the strategic partnership with the US, is not enough, in order to reach the safe environment where the national interests are automatically fulfilled. There is a need for serious analyses, responsible calculations and measurable objectives. The national interests do not refer to the possibility of traditional characteristics only, but also, on the first hand, the development based on multiple coordinates for the state and the nation, making way for diluting any kind of the differences with the rest of the European states.
