Summary/Abstract: The article presents the essence of the institutional approach as a method of studying the functioning of the economic system, focusing on the role of social, political and economic institutions. Attention was drawn to the complexity of the author's institutionalization processes, which showed the characteristics of physical education and sports. In addition to emphasizing the importance of institutional support for the effective development of entrepreneurship in the country, the current state of the business support system at the national level is evaluated. The article also identifies the main institutional deformations of the business support system and proposes specific areas for their elimination. The need to change the paradigm of state policy to support sports entrepreneurship is justified.
