Cryptocurrency Technologies: Evaluation of Factors Affecting Cryptocurrency Selection by AHP Method

Summary/Abstract: Purpose - The aim of this study is to determine the subjective evaluations through objective weightings in terms of revealing the factors affecting the selection of cryptocurrency. Design/methodology/approach – In the study, a 7-person evaluation team consisting of experts in cryptology and cryptocurrency evaluated the criteria and sub-criteria through binary comparisons. Based on this, these evaluations were transformed into global weight vectors by the Analytical Hierarchy Process. Findings - According to the analysis results, “Technological Curiosity”, “Control Power Over One's Money” and “Data and Transaction Privacy” were determined as the criteria with highest scores affecting the choice of cryptocurrency of individual portfolio managers investing in cryptocurrencies. However, the criteria with the lowest scores were determined as "Control Power Over the System", "Coin Producer" and "Credential Privacy". Discussion: In this study, analyzes were made with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods, in order to weight the criteria affecting the selection of crypto money by individual portfolio managers. cryptocurrencies and determining the most important criterion.
