Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to reveal the perception and awareness of young people on the halal foods through exploratory research. In order to achieve this aim, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the students from Business Department of İnonu University and data collected by survey. To determine the dimensions of the perception and awareness of young people towards halal food, exploratory factor analysis was applied to the variables in the questionnaire. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the data set was collected in four factors, health being the major factor. The most important problem about halal food in the world is that there is no unity in the interpretation of the concept halal. Despite this situation, halal food market is growing and globalizing. It is thought that the perceptions of young people towards halal food are the precursors of halal food purchasing behavior. Knowing the antecedents of young people's purchasing behavior will help those who engage in halal food production and marketing activities and will contribute to the increase awareness of the halal food consumers in Turkey, too.
