Summary/Abstract: In the present paper we approached the work of Danilo Kiš entitled “The Hourglass” from an imagological perspective. This is another confirmation of the fact that a lot of myths and symbols that have the same meaning but without any connection to each other appeared in different literary works of humanity. Taken into consideration that the mirror reflection is different from reality, the cultural picture of others that appears in the new literary context helped us to provide a definition for solidarity in the work of Danilo Kiš. At the same time “The Hourglass” is situated between Hypnos and Thanatos and points to the motives of dream and death, which represent the leitmotif in Danilo Kiš work.
