Summary/Abstract: Lifelong learning is both a consequence of macro-social dynamics, but also its premise. The contents of different forms of training that a person goes through during life respond in a lesser or greater deal/ less or more to the real needs they have been generated by. The characteristics of the curricula are analyzed within the antagonistic tendencies registered by each of them. In this context adapting contents imposes as a continuous and flexible process, as a defining feature of the learning organization. Projecting the curricula starting with the final result needs instruments that describe thoroughly the necessary skills that graduates will need in their profession. These lists of competencies, together with the acceptable level of performance, most often take the shape of professional or occupational standards. The way these standards are developed, poor actualization and bottlenecks that occur between professional associations and institutions providing education / training, decrease the adequacy of training programs on specific conditions generated by the labor market. Higher education defines curricula in terms of skills, but this certifies an amount of skills and not the fact that a future profession / occupation requires exactly. Thus we encounter in social practice various types of grids that try to capture the performance and necessary skills required for various professions/occupations. Military institution is a special case where planning contents starts from the graduate’s model, which induces an anticipatory nature to the curricular design. The analysis aims to track how training programs become adequate, focusing on training through courses in the Romanian Army.
