Summary/Abstract: In the contemporary decentralized society of the multitude ‘new media’ operates as an index nomadic term that points at numerous and various practices of constructive, performative, and constitutive procedures of contemporary living, that is, its scene of writing. Through introducing the term new-media writing I attempt to identify its mechanisms of maintaining hegemony: mythification and naturalization, translation and inclusion, partial permeability, etc. The questions concerning the survival of art practices today are thus becoming the questions of its un-readability, while their (un)intentional resistance to the protocols of the new-media writing reveals a unique chance to potentially act subversively in the context of present society and its imperatives. Is it possible to, through thorough re-definition of the status of art, perform a platform that will enable critical action?
