Summary/Abstract: During the periods when shipbuilding was carried out entirely based on wood, the issue of timber supply and transportation was one of the most important issues in the shipbuilding process. At this point, the Ottoman Empire, which ruled the region between the 10-50° north parallel and the 0-60° eastern meridian in the Northern Hemisphere, and two different climate belts called the Central Belt, had an advantageous position compared to most states that were modern in the area of timber supply with its rich forest area and evaluated this strategically well. In this study, we have covered Canik and the airport, which is one of the important timber supply points of the state. Our study was first shown on the basis of archival sources how the state followed the path of obtaining timber from Canik and its airport after a very short introduction to the Ottoman Empire and maritime activities, what problems were experienced in this process and what solution the state found to the problems.
