Summary/Abstract: The last months of 1848 sanctify the implementation of the Romanian revolutionary program, adopted in Blaj, in September 1848: the organization of the Romanian prefectures and legions. Among them were the Prefecture and the Legion of Mediaș, organized in the territories of the Chairs of Mediaș and Sighișoara.Simultaneously with the administrative organization, the military organization of the two chairs was realized. The precariousness of the news only allows us to know the military organization from the Chair of Mediaș. The military organization in the Chair of Sighișoara remains almost completely unknown to us.The military organization was directly determined by the decisions of the Romanian National Committee, which placed some tribunates within the Mediaș Prefecture under the jurisdiction of the neighboring prefects. We estimate that between October 1848 and the middle of January 1849 the number of fighters recruited from the Chair of Mediaș amounted to about 4,900-5,000 people.
