Summary/Abstract: The collection of fine arts of the National Museum of History of Romania, includes ten portraits made by Franz Matsch and Gustav Klimt, reprezenting images of members of Hohenzollern dynasty. These portraits, found in an album-type folder, were used as models for the Hohenzollern Family Ancestors Gallery at Peles Castle, donated in 1891 to the King Carol I of Romania by Josef Kott of Vienna, on the occasion of his 25th birthday. In the album, there are also nine paintings portraying Carol I, Prince Carol (the future King Carol II), King Mihai, Queen Elisabeta and Queen Mary.
