Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the leadership and performance concepts and leadership theories from past to today in detail. The aim of the study was to find out the impact of leadership behaviors on employee performance and productivity. A survey was conducted among employees of different companies located in Azerbaijan. Participants of the survey were asked about extend of the impact of their respective leaders on the workplace on performance and productivity. The study used a five-point Likert scale questionnaire consisting of twenty-five questions covering work-oriented, people-oriented leadership styles and employee productivity and performance variables. The data collected from individual participants were used to come to a final conclusion about the impact of leadership on overall performance and productivity. This study also addresses to determine the effects of the work-person oriented leadership style on the working style of the employees by utilizing the demographic characteristics and job departments of the employees. We took a sample of 88 and received 85 responses accurately by using the convenient sampling technique. In this research, a quantitative method has been used for the purpose of collecting data. The data obtained from the survey is analyzed via SPSS 26.0 COTS software. Different analysis is also utilized depending on the characteristics of the statistical analysis data. In conclusion, it is stated that person-oriented points are greater than the work-oriented points in Azerbaijan.
