Summary/Abstract: Introduction: Clarification of the nature of biological behavior of gastric cancer is a turning point of this treatment. Small light in explanation of the above problem is cancer stem cells (CSCs) theory. Core of work: With the help of CSC theory, it is possible to clarify not only the origin and development of primary tumors, but also the recurrence of the disease and the mechanism of metastasis. A better and more detailed understanding of the principle of action of CSCs, their ability to dormancy and metastasize tumors will provide new therapeutic approaches that are effective in eradicating tumors and significantly reducing mortality in cancer patients. Conclusion: Scientific studies confirm the theory of CSC in tumorigenesis and progression of cancer as well as tumor relapse and metastasis. In fact, the treatment methods used, such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, increase CSC proliferation and resistance.
