Summary/Abstract: This article examines the two dimensions of personality behavior - assertiveness and cooperativeness, in accordance with the notion of conflict behavior and differentiation by K. Thomas and R. Kilman. As a result, the five styles of dealing with conflicts in the Regional Directorate "Agriculture" Blagoevgrad were investigated - rivalry, cooperation, compromise, avoidance and adaptation. The article also assessed the personal predisposition of employees depending on the hierarchical status and gender towards the preferred style of behavior for resolving conflict situations.For the purposes of the study, the questionnaire of K. Thomas - R. Kilman (Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument-TKI) was used, which was adapted and standardized for the Bulgarian conditions by D. Kutlev (2004). The instrument of K. Thomas - R. Kilman is an ipsative personality questionnaire consisting of 30 pairs of statements on the possible alternative forms of behavior in a situation of interpersonal conflict. The "forced-choice testing" technique was used, which requires the subject to necessarily choose one of the pair of statements that corresponds to a greater extent to his behavior in conflict situations. It allows to control the social desirability of the answers in the testing stage and to highlight the stronger tendency of the personality.The obtained results made it possible to draw up a clear picture of the orientation of the investigated person towards a certain style of behavior and to formulate specific conclusions.
