Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the research was to analyse students’ mathematical fairy tales for pupils in grades 1-3 of primary school. This analysis served to identify the narrative components of a model mathematical fable. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: In this paper we applied narrative analysis, paying attention to the literary character of fables and the specificity of mathematical tasks, which determine the plot of the analysed texts. We focused on identifying the features of the mathematical fable model, addressed to pupils in grades 1-3. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The genesis of the topic undertaken is explained in the Introduction. The key chapters of the article (The Depicted World in Students’ Mathematical Fables and Typical and Atypical Textual Tasks in Fable Narrations) include a qualitative analysis of the research material and the educational value of mathematical fables. RESEARCH RESULTS: The mathematical fable model directly serves intellectual activation of the pupil. Mathematical content comes to the fore in it, serving didactic and literary purposes – the intertextual game. The resulting mathematical fable model is semantically and stylistically coherent and provides aesthetic experiences and cognitive satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The standard of mathematical fables reflects students’ level of readiness to create teaching materials and to apply outcomes of university education in practice. The combination of fable and mathematics creates a space for the sender and the recipient to be active.
