Summary/Abstract: Lately we have witnessed radical changes – often disruptive – in the education system, which dictate the rethinking of the teaching approach, as well as the teachers’ training. The educational policy of the European states aim at a new “community strategy” of implementing mentorship in most countries, but also other complementary actions in support of students, beginner and experienced teachers. Under these circumstances, the present approach seeks to illustrate mentorship from its theoretical legal aspect to steps taken by the Romanian authorities in order to respond to the problems caused by recent changes. As mentorship is a topic of international interest, with a wide range of experimentations, transformations and improvements, other states’ educational policies serve as a source of inspiration for the Romanian education system. Implementing mentorship is a necessity and recent changes are proof of the efforts to make best use of it.
