Summary/Abstract: The topic of this article is clinked to the different ways of commemorating thewar heroes in Comarnic (Prahova) that took part in both world wars. The sacrificesmade by soldiers remained in the collective memory and their descendants haveremembered those acts of courage. The practices promoted by the inhabitants ofComarnic varied in the years between 1920-1947: charitable acts for widows andorphans; organising religious processions at the heroes’ graveyards; buildingmonuments in their remembrance.Regardless of the commemorative policies imposed by the political regime, thechurch and the school were institutions which never missed these activities, being amodel of civic implication for the entire city. The main actors involved in all thefestivities were the priests, professors, the pupils. Even though the law establishedthe order of the festivities on a national level, these were taking place differently indifferent places according to each individual city.
