Summary/Abstract: The relationship between alcohol and crime is a relationship that intrigues researchers as much as it makes it difficult for them to fully understand it. The aim of the article is to summarize and organize the current state of knowledge in this field and to recall the most important empirical research, the compilation of which may be a starting point for further, extended research. Previous studies on the correlation between alcohol and crime are of a directional nature and are usually based on one, specific relationship. As a rule, researchers identify this relationship at the level of direct interaction of one factor with another, ignoring other important elements of the criminogenesis process. As a result, it is legitimate to claim that alcohol is a criminogenic factor, but it cannot be unequivocally determined whether it only affects this process symbolically or essentially.
