Summary/Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic is much more than a major, global health problem, it is also a crisis on a social, cultural, ecological and economic level. Education represents only one segment to which the pandemic caused unprecedented changes. According to United Nations data, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the greatest disruption to the education system in history, affecting nearly 1.6 billion pupils and students in more than 190 countries on all continents. The closure of schools and other educational institutions and the transition to online teaching affected 94% of the world's student population. Although the end of the pandemic is not in sight, its consequences, i.e. the impact on higher education, can already be determined, since these are ongoing trends that the crisis has only intensified. The aim of the work is to indicate new trends that will mark higher education in the post-pandemic period, which relate to the application of innovative technologies, adaptation to student requirements, provision of additional educational content.
