Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the translation process, from Romanian into Swedish, of the Păltiniş Diary by Gabriel Liiceanu, both concerning the text discourse, and the network of human relations surrounding the transformation of a literary work from one language to another: in other words, a micro and a macro perspective of the act of translation. The difficulties that appeared in this special case were on the one hand of a strict textual, linguistic nature. On the other hand, it is also possible to sense how other problems, such as differences concerning mentalities, historical background and culture, played a significant role for the final outcome of the Swedish version of this book.
