Deficits in the Law for Radio and Television

Summary/Abstract: In the management structure of BNT and BNR currently operating in тhe Law of Radio and Television, the general directors and the management councils elected by them, together with the symbolic public councils that they themselves form, there is no real guarantee for the protection of the public interest. In this paper the public interest can be guaranteed by the creation of a completely new supervisory body – the National Public Council, respectively at BNT and BNR, which will have increased supervisory functions regarding the management and editorial independence of the two public media. It should be charged not only with advisory functions, but with real powers, such as the right to elect directors-general
