Summary/Abstract: The study examines the question of some of the most famous Bulgarian saint-healers and how they were treated: during life or death. Attention is paid to the so-called typology of Christian healing, which originates from the biblical hypertext. The author’s attention is focused on the original Bulgarian hagiographic tradition, presented in the Life of St. John of Rila, Prohor of Pcinja, Gabriel of Lesnovo, and Joachim of Osogovo – four saints connected in a peculiar way to each other through the anchorite way of life. The study of the specified period also reflects the healing activity of a saint through her Life – The Life of St. Philothea of Temnitsa (Tǎrnovo). The genre specificity of the old literature in the period of the 12th – 15th centuries also dictates the peculiarity of the perception of the medieval text, its individual or group reading and perception. It should be noted that the literature created during these historical periods was mainly intended for monastic and liturgical needs.
