Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the cultural perspective of the relation between nonverbal communication and etiquette. Under the etiquette is understood here a code of behavior that delineates expectation for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, gender, ethnicity, religion or group. Attention is paid to cultural differences in basic communicative situations meeting and seeing. They are accompanied by greetings, eye contact and utilization of space.
