Summary/Abstract: E-commerce represents a new channel of trade that is increasingly being used for foreign exchange. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the digitization process, but it has also caused serious disruption to international trade in goods. Notwithstanding the pandemic, cross-border e-commerce faces a number of constraints and barriers to the implementation of this foreign sales channel. The complex and dynamic nature of cross-border e-commerce, as well as the very limited scope of official statistics in this area, makes it a field with still little recognition. The purpose of this article is to determine the extent and specificity of the use of the e-commerce channel in exports by Polish companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study is based on data from a survey conducted on a representative sample of Polish exporters in mid-2021. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first study of its kind. The results of the reserach showed a high degree of use of the e-commerce channel by Polish exporters compared to companies operating only in the domestic market. The implementation of e-export does not depend on the type of business conducted, the size of the company and experience in foreign markets. A peculiar feature of Polish e-export is the low extent of use of foreign marketplace platforms. However, the assessment of the long-term importance of the e-commerce channel in sales to foreign markets is relatively diverse among Polish exporters.
