The Philosopher Bertrand Russell and the Idea of Preventive Atomic War

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to survey Russell’s views on the possibility of waging a nuclear preventive war with the aim of establishing an international government and preserve world peace. Some of the factors which had influenced Russell’s thought are investigated with the aim to identify the ground reasons for supporting the idea of nuclear preventive war. In the end of the article criticism of Russell’s utopian views are offered together with praise of his humanism and unquestionable deep understanding of the fundamental reasons of wars.
